about our church
For over 100 years NLCC has been a mainstay in North Liberty as well as surrounding communities. Starting as a small building in downtown North Liberty, disciples were made and serving those around us was foundational to our ministry. Though our location changed almost 50 years ago to just north of town, making disciples and serving those around us is what we’re all about.
We want to experience God and transform lives through His power.
Core Values of NLCC
Devote ourselves daily to a personal relationship with Jesus.
“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:9-11)
Offer and receive biblical guidance in all areas of life.
All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for very good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Pursue genuine relationships with one another based on love.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)
Live authentically, sharing our struggles and celebrating our victories.
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” (James 5:16)
Engage intentionally with our communities and the world to make disciples.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
We believe in one God.
We believe God created the world and everything in it.
1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-8 JOHN 3:16
We believe Jesus Christ is our Savior who died and rose again.
ROMANS 8:26-27 & JOHN 16:5-15
We believe the Holy Spirit is living and active in our daily lives.
2 TIMOTHY 3:16
We believe in the Bible as God’s inspired and infallible word.
ROMANS 6:1-7 GALATIANS 3:27
We believe that we were once enemies of God because of sin. However, after openening our eyes to the loving, sacrificial act of Christ on the cross, and responding in baptism, we are welcomed in to God’s family.
We believe the Church is the redeemed body of believers. The Church is the bride of Christ serving God and loving others.
1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-26
We believe Communion is our opportunity to share with the body of Christ in remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. It is a time of reflection, but also a time of rejuvenation as we remember and look forward to being with Him for eternity.
1 CORINTHIANS 12:12-30 ROMANS 12:1-21
We believe we all have different gifts and abilities and it is our responsibility to use them for God’s glory.
REVELATIONS 22:1-5 (HEAVEN) MATTHEW 13:39-50 (HELL)
We believe Heaven and Hell are very real places where people spend eternity with or without God.
We believe Christ will come again and judge the righteous and unrighteous. (MATT 16:27-28)
1 THESSALONIANS 5:17 MATTHEW 6:9-13
We believe Prayer is how we connect with God through sharing with Him, thanking Him, pleading with Him, and praising Him.
MARK 12:17 MATTHEW 6:33
We believe we need to give out of a cheerful heart and should give back to God what he has given us, because it is all His.
